FIRST, out of chronological order: [personal profile] renshai! Aaaaaaaa! I checked my mailbox the other night!

Your doodly little copper flower thing went on my keyring immediately. And I never decorate my keyrings.

Thank you vurry much I loff you c'mere. *hug*

NOW THEN.
My Christmas 2009 was a Christmas that will be passed down in legends. I spent it with the immediate family and no one else, and it lasted three days. I ate delicious foods and relaxed and was happy.

CHRISTMAS EVE: Hugging, baking, Mexican food-eating, Muppet Christmas Caroling*, present-wrapping (and emailing). I think we also saw Princess and the Frog that day?

OH AND SNOW. It almost never snows and it SNOWED on CHRISTMAS EVE, ALL DAY LONG. I pointed it out to people over and over again throughout the day, which had to be annoying, but I was too excited to care. When I ran out of people to tell it to I ended up just cooing snoooooooooow at the sky in a puppy-talk voice.

CHRISTMAS DAY: I gave my dad a handheld electronic Sudoku thing and this board game because it looked neat. I gave my brother a book of sheet music for Wicked and several packs of Yu-Gi-Oh cards for hooking his college friends with, all at his request, so no surprises, boo. My mom wanted me to design something ("with like maybe vines, or leaves...?") for the window in the bathroom she's redecorating because she knows a stained glass guy (!), so I did. I was going to Photoshop it better to make it look like actual stained glass, but I, uh, got lazy! It worked out anyway, though, because she actually gasped when she saw it and went D: ! Success.

(And Dad got her Windows 7! Wtf is this? I don't have Windows 7! She's beating me)

My own haul:

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THERE WAS ALSO

Furniture! That's right, furniture. If I didn't know I was a grownup before, I know it now, because this was so super exciting. They will soon be re-covered in this fabric, which is what is currently happening to the chair that is not present in this photo. I love my Animal Crossing cabana furniture eeeeeeee.

Not pictured: one plain chocolate orange, one emotional breakdown followed by many hugs, one cabana chair, the extreme comfiness of my furniture, some money.

After all that, bro and I played in what was left of the snow.

We made snow not-angels, which I now realize are way cooler. I love that you can see the waves in our hair!

CHRISTMAS DAY II: Mom and I both basically spent my visit subtly prodding each other to repeat how much we loved our gifts all of the time. Also yummy Christmas leftovers, many of which came home with me, and lovely conversations with my brother.

So! Since that time I have been feeling all domestic and productive, getting things moved around and cleaned up and whatnot, which is a nice feeling. Now I gotta do laundry and round up stuff to donate to Goodwill or someplace.

* Apparently there is now a DVD version that actually contains the entire movie, which is an excellent thing, because until this year we'd been using our old VHS version. I went to Wikipedia just now to see why exactly the song "When Love is Gone" was cut-- apparently it was "too melodramatic." This is foolishness. Michael-Caine-Scrooge dueting, from memory, with the ghost/vision/whatever of his only love as she rejects his younger self, only lasting about 10 seconds before he gets too choked up to continue? IS JUST MELODRAMATIC ENOUGH. And anyway, without it the happier mini-version at the end (which WAS left in) doesn't make any sense.
